Chord Media Engine "First Look"
Since the introduction of the stunning DSP-8000 (Chord Electronics flagship home cinema processor), everybody here wondered when the system would be complete with a top-end DVD player to match... the wait seemed like forever, but it's been well worth it as Chord have finally delivered.

Enter the "Chord Media Engine", a truly gargantuan entertainment hub designed to meet all of your music and movie requirements. With a storage capacity of 2.4 Terabytes you can archive near enough 20,000 CD's (That's about the capacity of a well stocked record store!) Each CD takes seconds to archive without loss of quality, and tracks are instantly accessible at the touch of a button.

The Chord Media Engine can also be used to back up your entire DVD collection, and with regularly updated programs like 'DVD Profiler', you can categorise your film library by genre, director, chronologically, alphabetically...any way you like it!
You can also browse through the technical specifications on the disc, and friends can even read a movie synopsis to make that Saturday night movie choice easier (and a heck of alot more fun than straining your eyes on a wall of DVD cases).

All six hard drive bays are networked internally using a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) system, designed to store data safely and securely. All archived information is duplicated across the entire array to ensure there is no loss of data in the unlikely event of hard disc failure. Pretty Smar-T!

HDMI/DVI and BNC Component connections come as standard to display
High Definition images that defy belief, and with a state of the art graphics card built in you can even play PC CD/DVD-Rom gaming titles at blistering speed.

The home theatre PC (HTPC for short) is definitely the way forward for home media solutions, but previous attempts from other brands have always fallen short of our expectations. The main problem is the fact that they're so damned noisy! High performance components require constant cooling, and the fans used for this can hinder the listening experience, especially when running applications that really test a systems resources. Chord Electronics significantly reduce this problem by using the very best components in their respective classes. The inner workings also benefit from the unique aluminium casing which doubles as a highly effective heatsink.

The Chord Media Engine is expected to launch in Summer / Autumn 2005.
