We came across Unilet in ‘What Hi-Fi’ whilst deciding that we would lose the plastic toys and clutter from our playroom and replace it with a home cinema. I logged onto their website and instantly warmed to the shop because the comments about the staff made me smile. I decided to phone them. My first impression was very positive...they weren’t asking for ridiculous amounts of money for a quotation, in fact Vernon said it was free but he would need a large mug of tea and cream cakes when he visited! This was definitely my approach to new ‘techie’ stuff, about which we know absolutely nothing.
They were brilliant, advising us wisely and with good prices. They made us laugh and didn’t mind making a second visit for what David calls a ‘tutorial’. The Pioneer Plasma TV and posh DVD player are really only fully understood by our teenagers but we can still at least get the system to do what we want. The surround sound is fabulous. Jasper and Jemima love it too and it keeps the kids quiet. (Jasper and Jemima are the cats by the way!).
Having latched onto Vernon to make all the decisions for us we have since bought a music system and a second plasma screen for our sitting room from Unilet

I have had the great pleasure of using your magnificent store for many years. Your warm approach along with tremendous product knowledge makes my visits a pleasure. It has also enabled my wife and I to attain an astonishing Audio/Visual sound system. Strong words, but to prove my point we had some guests here a few weeks ago listening to Andrea Bocelli. They were reduced to tears they were so amazed with what they were listening to. They thought of themselves as Hi-Fi buffs with a good sound system but with your help and enthusiasm they were blown away by what they could hear.
Two channel audio and six channel SACD reproduction is breath taking. This system that we have put together with your expertise just kicks, it's awesome! Top London cinemas no longer cut it for me as movies are now better at home and music DVD's come into their own like we are actually there.

I have been a regular customer at Unilet for the past 25 years and have seen many changes from Vinyl through to CD, Plasma and beyond... The one constant during this time has been the caring and professional nature of all the staff. This friendly disposition, in my opinion, makes this independently run shop score heavily against the plethora of large Hi-Fi chains, and makes me feel less of a number and more of a friend.
In depth knowledge of every facet of every product sold enables their staff to create a perfect synergy between brands, making them work with eachother rather than against. This is clearly demonstrated in their excellent dedicated listening rooms.
Each branch of the audio/visual tree is catered for, with an expert in each field always present. They will sell you a £20 interconnect or a £20,000 complete system with the same passion, something a few other shops could learn from.
P.S. While your partner is shopping in Waitrose (New Malden), make the most of the 2 hour parking and go across the road and down the alley by the Estate Agents to Unilet Sound & Vision!
