The Characters that live at Billy Vee
OK. So this is where you get to get the drop on us when you visit. This page tells you a bit about our people and shows you what we look like. It also gets you special treatment such as - if you should walk in and decide to play a joke on say Mike by making out you know him, he will be likely to tell you to make your own tea, or Bill may expect you to help him plaster a wall. It's our old fashioned values you see, the sort of thing that happens when you become part of the family.

Ian Anderson
All of the Monkeys aren't in the zoo... Gorilla chief - Ian Anderson
Hooked on music from a very early age - totally addicted from about 15 and still is. Worked as a Telecom technician from 18 - 30 then became a dealer to satisfy the craving. Has run Billy Vee since 1976. As a music couch potato has more than a passing interest in sports cars, computers (listen while u work) and women who have an interest in music and couches. Naturally - a great JJ Cale fan. Likes - Performance anything, Thai food, Hagen Daz. Dislikes - English winter, Grapefruit..

Our Active Demonstrator - Ian Ridge
A born enthusiast and an enthusiast he was born. Watch out for Ian he wants you to have the best. If you like it as it is direct and straight up Ian is your man. His opinions count because he will prove them to you. A tireless worker, he will ensure you are happy with the results. Ian spent his youth running a Technical department at a local Polytechnic school. He spent his spare time getting a brilliant sound from his Hi-Fi. Now he wants to do that for you. Likes - music, photography. Dislikes - Fish.

Patrick Murphy
Patrick (Performance) Murphy
Patrick originally came to us for work experience twelve years ago and loved it so much he never went back. That was in 87, He stayed until 1990 when the lure of seeing the world became too much. Now he is back, with much experience gained and no enthusiasm lost. Patrick loves to find out how things work and, see if he can make them work better. Totally performance driven Pat will find the limits his cars and hi-fi will go to. He is our beta tester and if anyone can unearth a problem with something, Pat can - and usually find a solution. Likes - Fast Cars, fast music, food. Dislikes - anything that doesn't do what it says on the tin.

Mike Olrod
Mike (lively) Olrod
Mike is our Ian Botham. He is a great all rounder and has what is known as golden ears!. If you want somebody to improve your Hi-Fi Mike's your man. Truly laid back, if you like a salesman who will patiently show you the best quality sound without baffling you with technobabble and leave the decision up to you, - you will like Mike. Keywords, `No Problem' Mike managed a local Hi-Fi shop and bought his Hi-Fi from us, now the rest is history. Mike takes care of Sales, Setups, Repairs, Service, Dispatch, Goods inwards, Goods outwards, Customer service mail-outs, and getting Dave to clean up at the end of the day. Likes - Food, Computers, Hi-Fi and most music. Dislikes - wearing too many clothes and poor quality.

David Hale
Dave is our new kid on the block, fresh face, designer jeans and hair; he is a second generation Billy Vee-er. Dave is the son of one of our customers and his dad got cheesed of with him using his system all the time so he now works for us and his dad has got his system back. Dave loves to take things apart and fix them if they don’t work. Dave assists with Setups, Repairs, Service, Despatch, Goods inwards and Goods outwards. He makes a good cup of coffee and tea too. Likes: Gadgets and Golf. Dislikes: Indian food and cheese.

Dr Jessica Mahdavi
Jessica (Chimp Girl) Mahdavi - Our female activist and accounts 'person'
Jessica is a psychologist. When she dropped into the shop to get her computer fixed she found enough material for a few conventions and a Phd, so she stayed. Jess loves to get involved and fix things including the Gorilla Chief. This has become a lifetime occupation as things keep falling off as he gets older, also, with her razor sharp repartee and a brain the size of a planet it was only natural she spent the odd hour a week running the company accounts. Keywords, 'did I help' Jess will do her best to find a solution for us and for you. Likes - Spaghetti Bolognese, Babies, No59 and Def Leppard. Dislikes - Cats (except mine) Chinese food and asking for what she gives most - help.

Steven Miles
Steve is our electrician and one of the family. He was always hanging out at the shop while he was learning how to electrocute himself so we offered him a job. Sadly we couldn't afford him full time (sparkies get loadsa money turning the lights on at Christmas) so he works a few evenings and weekends. We also let him borrow gear and in return he has re-wired our shop with 3 phase mains - every bit of kit has its own socket. Now the street lights go dim when we crank up the A/V, still we love him and he loves us. So if you want bandwidth like chiffon with a hairy back or a multi-room system wired in, Steve's your man. Keywords: no worries. Likes - Curry, expensive aftershave and young fluffy felines. Dislikes - not having a woman, cheap Hi-Fi

Bill
Bill (The Bobder)
Our line-up is not complete without a special mention for Bill. He takes care of the building and there is not one area that does not bear witness to Bill's mastery of the trade. From underpinning to window replacement, varnished floors to re-plastered walls - we are lucky to have Bill. He works well 'in the old style' where people take a pride in their work, call us old fashioned but Bill's work adds a physical dimension to our values and vision. Likes - singing while he works, egg and bacon rolls, finishing what he started. Dislikes - Having nothing to do, shoddy workmanship.

Jonathan Luke (Anderson) 7mths
He was 10 days late - well he is my son - but arrived narrowly missing Christmas Day on Boxing Day evening. I would like to think that he inherited his good looks from me but I am sure that Jess has taken the lead in that department. So I suppose that now I will have to change our name to 'Billy Vee Sound Systems & Son'
