B&W recently launched their new 800 Diamond Series at the C.E.S. in Las Vegas aptly named because, you guessed it, their advanced technology diamond tweeters are now included in every speaker in the range. This is only one of many changes and upgrades made to the previous 800 series, the cabinets are now sourced and made in the UK and there are other significant improvements across the range that B&W state offer dramatic improvements.
The diamond tweeter has been redesigned featuring a new surround material and a quad-magnet voice coil. Stereo imaging is claimed to be improved, while increasing openness. The woofers now use a dual neodymium magnet motor system, offering better bass response and lower harmonic distortion. The crossover incorporates a unique capacitor design using silver, gold and oil. Oxygen-free copper speaker terminals and links are also included.
There are seven models in the range (only one 803 model now) and start with the familiar 805 bookshelf, 804, 803, 802 and 800 all with the Diamond suffix. The 801 has also been dropped with prices to start at £3750 for the 805 Diamond. Two centre channels complete the line-up – the HTM4 Diamond for smaller installations and the HTM2 Diamond for larger ones.

• 802 Diamond £11,500 per pair

Diamond tweeters should offer a massive improvement in performance for those models that previously used the aluminium tweeter and along with the other upgrades to the range we can’t wait to get our hands on them. We should see our demonstration units arrive around the mid to end of March so if you would like to arrange an audition or require any further information please contact Paul or Mike who will be pleased to assist. - more info:-
