Linn LP12SE Keel
As with all transducers (components that change mechanical to electrical energy) it is vitally important that the only the parts you want to move - move. Everything else stays still. That of course is impossible and the slightest vibration or movement introduces unwanted frequency distortion. In this case we only want the cartridge cantilever to move but this also generates mechanical frequencies that travel up the arm, through the pillar and into the armboard. Any movement introduces distortion so the more rigid with less joints the assembly is, the better.
Machined from a single piece of top grade aluminium the keel replaces both armboard, sub chassis and arm pillar collar. This now provides a rigid accurately flat platform for arm and sub platter eliminating fixing joints and the differing materials used previously. The Keel on its own offers a revelation in performance and is the first recommended upgrade in the chain.
