HiFi Show 12 October
We are pleased to invite you to what will be an entertaining, enjoyable and
enlightening day out.
In conjunction with many of our key suppliers, we are taking over the Mollington
Banastre Hotel for a day, to showcase what's new in HiFi and quality audio, and to
demonstrate many system options at different price ranges. There will be a number of
important new products shown for the first time in the Uk, further details being given
in the rest of this Newsletter.
As well as playing recorded music, we will have life entertainment from a number of
talented musicians, and will be offering collectable record & CD sales at the venue, as
well as CD's from Naim's own record label . The Mollington's bar & meals will be
available throughout the day, and the whole event promises to be a lot of fun.
The Mollington Hotel can be found on the A5140 just 2 miles out of Chester from the
Fountains roundabout, close to Mollington village. Their website,

Naim Audio
Naim will have three systems on demonstration throughout the day, starting with their
entry level system consisting of the CD5i CD Player, Nait 5i Amplifier and N-Sat
loudspeakers. This will be in the foyer of the hotel, set up in a comfortable domestic
environment.
One of Naim's most recent developments is the HDX Hard disk unit, which allows for
the first time storage of CD's onto a hard drive at lossless quality, with all audio stages
to Naim's usual standards. This will be on demonstration with the Supernait integrated
amplifier, and Naim Allae Loudspeakers.
Naim's showcase system using their top of the range 500 Series electronics and SL2
loudspeakers with Subwoofer will be their third system, just to show what can be
done. Incidentally, it is this system that had been at many recent Motor Shows
following the exclusive partnership agreement between Bentley Motors and Naim, for
Naim to design in car systems for Bentley's 2009 model year range.
Neat Loudspeakers
Neat are a new product for Acoustica this year. After being hassled - in the nicest
possible way - by designer Bob Surgeoner, we got round to listening to some of his
loudspeakers. Unfortunately, they were rather good, combining Isobarik type loading
on bass, with one of the best HF drivers we knew of (as JM used to use in their Utopia
range). Suffice to say, we now carry most of the range, and are pleased to welcome
Neat to our select range of manufacturers worth dealing with. Neat will have two
separate demonstration rooms at the Hotel, one featuring product from their
Momentum range, the other an altogether bigger system with their Ultimatum product.
Primare
PRODUCT LAUNCH - Primare produce some of the best 2 channel and Surround
Sound electronics on the market, but deserve to be better known. For the show, they
have some new surround sound kit, so new that we don't have any more details, but
they promise it will be there. They will be using In Focus projectors as part of their
demonstration, so there will be something for diehard AV enthusiasts, or those just
thinking of dipping a toe in the water.
Thiel
We have long been advocates of the Thiel loudspeaker range, with both the1.6 and the
2.4 floorstanding loudspeakers. There is now a new model above them, the 3.7, which
is what Thiel's uk distributor will be showing. Symmetry also import such notable
brands as Ayre, Stax and Sumiko, and selected products from these manufacturers
will form part of their display.
Spendor
PRODUCT LAUNCH - Spendor have been very successful with their S series of
loudspeakers, but the time has come to move on. Hence the S5 becomes the A5, and
the S6 becomes the A6. Both are completely new designs with advanced technology
helping to produce advanced performance. Come and see what you think. Spendor
will be using Classe electronics in their room, which promises to be an interesting
combination.
Sugden
PRODUCT LAUNCH - Sugden make amplifiers, yes? They also make CD Players,
agreed? Well now they make something else as well. Come and have a look.
MIT Cables
MIT cables were a bit of a surprise to us. We've tried it all before, expensive
interconnects & cables aren't always worth the money that is asked, but with MIT it
really is. Every time we go up from a product in their range to the next one up, it's
clearly better in every way, their is no downside. MIT are our favourite cable
company, and we are always happy to let them out on loan as most times people don't
want to give them back. Come and have a chat to Simon about what can be done to
cost effectively upgrade your system with a bit of wire!
Quadraspire
Quadraspire's furniture range just grows & grows. Due to the modular construction of
their tables, we find we can put together something to fit most requirements. Come
and have a look at their latest modular wall system and CD & record storage
solutions, and see what you think.
Naimnet
Naim have now fully embraced multi room technology by cleverly taking an existing
networked multiroom system, and substituting into it all the audio components that
affect sound quality with product of their own design. This means that for the first
time, audio can be sent around the house with no loss of quality at all, sourced from
wither one of Naim's dedicated hard disk devices, or the HDX that also forms the
heart of a stand alone audio system. Naimnet can be fully integrated with video
distribution, lighting control, and all other aspects of electronic home control. We
will have a demonstration of Naimnet fully operating throughout the day, and our
installation engineer will be on hand to discuss any multi room or AV queries you
may have.
Due to prior commitments, B&W, Arcam & Rega are unable to be present at the
event. However, the full range of products from these manufacturers is available for
demonstration at the Acoustica showroom.
